The Next Generation Nuclear Plant (NGNP) project engages the corporations you depend on for gasoline, plastics and fertilizer with a progressive approach to energy production. To find out how these industries can benefit from using nuclear energy for processing, run your cursor over the icons for plastics, fertilizer or refining on the illustration near the top of this page.
NGNP is striving to create a closer relationship between the major commercial consumers of energy and the production lines that support those industries. The project is developing a high temperature gas-cooled reactor to produce energy that is able to run both a primary and a secondary industrial application. The heat generated by the high temperature reactor can be used to run more efficient turbines, to produce electricity for homes, and to use the residual steam from that process to manufacture plastic components from raw materials or generate ammonia for fertilizer. Numerous industrial applications and energy distribution methods may be integrated into the operation of NGNP.
This site will explain how the energy created by a high temperature gas-cooled reactor can assist our national pursuit of energy independence.
